5/23/23 - 5/26/23

  • Attention seniors! 5/23 Round Table Pizza in SV is offering one free single topping individual pizza to seniors during regular business hours. Also, Aunt Lali's is offering seniors a free ice cream treat today during break in the upper parking lot. Remember that you will need your student ID to participate in both of these offers.

  • 5/24 - Mountain Mike's in SV is offering one free single topping individual pizza to seniors only between 11am and 4pm. You must have your student ID to receive free pizza.

  • 5/25 - Seniors - today Bruno's BBQ is offering one free dessert to seniors only between 1 and 4pm. You must have your student ID to receive this offer.

  • 5/30 - Today Penny's Ice Creamery is offering Seniors a free ice cream scoop coupon to be used ANY day during regular hours. Pick up your coupon after senior check out from the library. You must turn in all your library books to be given the coupon.

5/15/23 - 5/19/23

  • Scotts Valley Girls Lacrosse... Congratulations to  the Girls Lacrosse team for their CCS Quarterfinals win over Archbishop Mitty on Friday night. What a game! Congratulations on advancing to the CCS Semifinals!

    Please wish them good luck as they travel to Sacred Heart Prep in Atherton this Wednesday for a 5:30 game versus former CCS Champions SHP!

  • Girls flag football is now an official high school sport. Any girls interested, please come to a short meeting at the start of Lunch Tuesday in the gym.

  • PBIS Team will be hosting a pizza party during lunch on Wed. Students look for invites coming today. Staff please join us in the grassy area by the main office.

  • Free Pizza at lunch today in the Student Union - please join us to hear Reeve share and learn more about out God Squad Club here at SVHS.

  • Come to the final concert of the year. Next Thursday, May 25th at 7pm in the Student Union. This concert features the SVMS band the the SVHS Band and Choir. Admission is free, donations are welcome. See you there.

  • Seniors -pick up your yearbook on May 23rd @ break. Freshman through Juniors pick up your yearbook from May 24th to the 30th @ break at E104. You can still buy a yearbook. It is not too late! Buy it online or bring in $100 cash or check.

  • We want to remind all student that their books MUST be returned to the library at the end of the year. Return all books, chromebooks, and calculators before you leave for summer break.

  • Seniors - To celebrate the end of the school year, businesses around SV are offering free goodies to the SVHS senior class! Check out the Senior Class Google Classroom for all participating businesses and dates.

  • There is a Math Fundamentals Study Sesion on Thursday, May 18th in Ms. Erdos room M11 at 3:30pm.

  • Girls Basketball- If you're interested in playing girls basketball next year please come to a short meeting at the start of lunch in the gym on Thursday, May 25th.

  • Seniors we leave for Magic Mountain after 4th period today. 1:30pm come to the student lot to load onto the buses. Remember to check the Google Classroom for the details posted last week.

5/8/23 - 5/12/23

  • Powderpuff Game is Friday, May 12th. Come cheer on the senior and junior girls.

  • May 22nd is Harvey Milk Day. Harvey Milk was an activist, organizer and the first openly gay man elected to public office in the late 1970s. Milk was responsible for passing gay rights ordinances in SF before he was assassinated on Nov 27th, 1978. Milk was an extraordinary leader whose courageous work to end discrimination against the LGBTQ community set the stage for many of the civil rights advances we see today. In honor of Milk, SVHS is proud to join the other County HSs in raising the LGBTQ+ flag the week of May 8th. We invite all students and staff to join us at the flag raising today at break in front of the main office.

5/1/23 - 5/5/23

  • In honor of commitment day, on Monday, May 1st bring a rejection letter for a donut at break in the quad.

  • Congratulations to SVHS girls Beach Volleyball - earning the 1st place in league banner for our gym. We beat Soquel in the semi-final yesterday 5-0.

  • Congratulations to Girls Beach Volleyball. They are playing Santa Cruz HS at Main Beach 4pm TODAY in the league tourney championship.

  • We would like to give a HUGE shout out to our lunch ladies on Lunch Hero Day. Jennifer Rasmussen, Jennifer Beasley, Nicole Lostrie and Sarah Cipolla. Thank you for all you do.

4/24/23 - 4/28/23

  • If you are a freshman, sophomore or junior, UCSC is coming to SVHS to talk about their summer university program. Come listen to how you can get a jump on college and take some interesting classes. UCSC will be in the College and Career Center on Wed, April 26th during tutorial.

  • Are you interested in learning more about Syracuse University? A counselor from Syracuse will be at SVHS Wed, 4/26 at 9am.

  • Sign up for the Blood Drive and get a free Snoopy T-shirt.

  • Wednesday is bike to school day. If you bike or walk to school next Wed, April 26th, you will be treated to all sorts of snacks and goodies. Please come before 2nd period.

  • Remember to check in with the librarian about overdue books and fines prior to purchasing your prom tickets. Thursday is the last day the library will be open to return books in time to purchase prom tickets.

  • If you are a Senior who qualifies for the Seal of Biliteracy, check in with Ms. Else immediately during lunch, before school or during tutorial. Bring an unofficial transcript.

  • Juniors and Seniors - Prom tickets are on sale now during lunch in the student store. Tickets are $130 with ASB and $140 without. Make sure you check the information on the SVHS instagram for more information.

4/17/23 - 4/21/23

  • 4/17 is be kind to yourself day. Make sure to practice positive self talk and self care. Wear blue tomorrow for be kind to others day and particapte in the lunch activity.

  • Grade 9-11 - anyone interested in joining student government for the 2023-24 school year, applications are now available on the website student government page or in the office. They are due by Friday, 4/21.

  • Senior panoramic, boys golf, track, lacrosse, baseball, basketball, beach volleyball, and boys tennis pictures are in the office ready for pick up. Please come get them if you ordered.

  • Cabrillo Bound Seniors - don't forget to go to your scheduled Cabrillo Workshop in M10.

  • Next week is Kindness Week. Make sure to practice being kind to yourself, others, the environment, your community and your school. Wear yellow or white on Monday for respect yourself day.

  • Grades 9-11: Anyone interested in joining Student Government for the 2023-24 school year applications are now available on the website Student Government age or in the office. Due Friday 4/21/23.

3/20/23 - 3/24/23

  • There's a basketball tournament on Thursday in the gym from 6-8! Sign ups are in the student store at break and through the falcon frenzy instagram. It's $3 to play and teams are 8-10.

  • The SVHS Hope Squad is excited to announce our first Hope Week. Hope Week is a special week-long celebration designed to spread positivity, provide supportive resources, and reduce the stigma around mental health. The week will end on Friday with an interactive Health and Wellness Fair in the quad and a Movie Night in the gym presenting the beloved Pixar film Inside Out. Please join us in this celebration of hope and connection!

  • Congrats to boys volleyball for their win against Soquel last night. Ladreal Wallwork had 11 kills while Riley Schaefer-Whittall contributed 18 digs. Catch them in action next week as they take on Harbor and Aptos.

  • Looking for something fun to do this week? The Maji Project is selling tickets for the movie Ant Man and the Wasp: Quantumania at lunch Mon, Tues, and Wed this week. The movie will be shown at the Cinelux Theater this Wed the 22nd at 7pm. Tickets are $12 and all proceeds go toward clean water.

Application packets for the Fall 2022 semester are available and due Friday, March 24th. Go to the CSF page of the SVHS website for instructions and required forms.

This is a great opportunity for students to catch up on some hours while learning and celebrating more about our community's multiculturalism.

  • In March, we take extra steps to raise awareness about the rights of people with disabilities and to celebrate their contributions to our culture and society. Our school district is proud to announce a poster contest to spread the word about abilities awareness month. Poster designs are due on March 14th. See the office for more info.

  • Haunted House officially presented $31,114 to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. This makes SVHS the 2nd highest donating school in the nation. Congratulations Haunted House Crew! Thank you for all you do.

  • Seniors - your grad gowns and announcements are in. Go to room 302/Fisher's room to pick up.

  • On Friday, March 17th there will be chocolate gold coins given out at break for St Patrick's Day! Make sure you stop by the student store to get some.

3/6/23 - 3/9/23

  • The sophomores are hosting a Spring Fling Semiformal dance on March 17th in the Student Union. Tickets will be on sale March 13-17 at lunch in the Student Store.

  • The student interest survey for next year's bell schedule will be open all week until March 9. If you haven't yet, please fill it out. There is a link to the survey on the home page under Information.

  • The Drama Department is having a tech informational meeting on Thursday, March 9th. If you're interested in joining tech for the musical, come to Mrs. K's English room C-705 at lunch to learn more about signing up.

  • Come on out to Cabaret Night on Tuesday, March 7th at 7pm in the Student Union. Admission is free but donations are welcome. Let your performing arts friends entertain you with jazz, Broadway and street performances like you would see on a Night in NY.

2/27/23 - 3/3/23

  • Congrats to the boys volleyball team for their first win of the season. They'll be back in action this Friday at 6:30pm with another home game. Come out and support!

  • The library will be closed for Tutorial period today, Jan 22. If you need any materials for tutorial, please pick them up from the library during morning break.

  • This year's Art Night is being held on Thursday March 2nd from 6pm-9-pm in the Student Union. Come show support for the Arts and see what our talented visual art, graphic design and IB art students have created this year.

  • Whitings Foods on the Boardwalk is hosting a :Hiring Pop-up Event" on Sunday, Feb 26th from 10:30-2:00 with walk in interviews. Check out the website for more details.

  • Attention Juniors and Seniors - Willamette University will be at SVHS in the College and Career Center on Tuesday, Feb 28th at 10:00. Come learn more about this college visiting from Salem, Oregon.

  • Basketball League Playoffs starts this week. Come out and support your Falcons. Tuesday Girls 5:30 vs Aptos and Boys vs SLV. $4 gate fee. Come rock the nest gym.

  • Boys Golf sign ups and meeting are Feb 14th at lunch, 1:15p outside the gym. Please fill out registration on FamilyID if you plan to play.

  • Seniors - If you ordered your graduation announcements by the deadline, they are in and will be available for pick up this Tuesday. If you did not order cap, gown or announcements, this is your last opportunity to do so. Go to the student store at break Tuesday Feb 14th!

  • We are starting a Disc Golf Club at SV. Meet in Mr. Lahood's room C402 on Friday at lunch to get information and sign up.

1/30/23 - 2/3/23

  • Seniors! Don't forgot to check Naviance for scholarships. Community Foundation extended their deadline to Wed, February 8th because they have an unusually low application count so get your application in!

  • If you are interested in joining the boys tennis team for the upcoming season, please contact Head Coach Scott Goodrich. His contact details on on the SVHS website. Everyone is welcome and encouraged to join the team, even if you've never played tennis before. Practice begins on Feb 6th. Thank you and Go Falcons!

  • We are looking for students who represent our RIC values and school spirit to be part of the Shadow Day Ambassador Program. If you are interested, fill out the Google form on our Shadow Day page on the school website or see Neelu or a counselors if you have any questions.

  • JV Girls Soccer beat Harbor 4-1. Isabella and Darla each scored a goal. Hayden scored 2 goals.

  • Seniors - Are you attending Cabrillo College next year and thinking of applying for the Honors Program? A counselor from the Cabrillo Honors program is coming to SVHS to answer all your questions. They will cover the application, what the program is like and more. They will be here on Wed, Feb 8th during Tutorial in the College and Career Center.

1/23/23 - 1/27/23

  • If you are interested in joining the SVHS Boys Tennis team for the 2023 season, please call or email Head Coach Scott Goodrich. All are welcome!

    Our first practice is Wednesday, Feb 6th 3:45 - 5:30pm.

    You will need to complete the Family ID registration (see SVHS website) in order to practice.

  • Baseball tryouts are Monday, Jan. 30th through Wednesday, Feb. 1st, after school. You’ll need to have had a physical prior to tryouts AND it must be uploaded to the school’s FamilyID page. Please wear baseball pants, t-shirt, hat and cleats. Cuts will be announced Thursday, Feb. 2nd. Winter sports athletes will get their tryouts after their winter sport ends.

  • Boys golf sign ups and meeting on Feb 14th at lunch (1:15) outside the gym. Please fill out the registration on FamilyID if you plan to play.

  • Awesome news for those interested in playing softball for the Falcons. For the first time in years, our goal is to have two softball teams- JV and Varsity.

     

    Please come out and be part of something special. We are excited about getting the season started. If you have any desire to play, please attend tryouts on Monday, Jan. 30 at 4. 

     

    All Varsity tryouts are Monday, Jan. 30th at 4. Dress in full softball gear. Must have Family ID completed with your physical attached to tryout.

  • Blanket and Jacket Drive is going on now so make sure to bring in ones you want to donate to people in need.

  • Winter Formal is coming up on Feb 3rd from 8-11pm in the Cocoanut Grove Ballroom at the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. Ticket sales will begin on Jan 17th during break and lunch up until Jan 27th. More information can be found on the ASB Instagram.

  • Seniors -are you unsure about where to find scholarships and how to apply? We are having a scholarship workshop on Wed. Jan 25th during Tutorial in room E101. Come learn all the ins and outs of scholarship money.

  • Attention clubs! Come to the rainbow stairs by the portables on Jan 19th and 20th @ break and lunch to get your group club picture taken for the yearbook. Contact your club president for details.

SVHS is a great place where you can learn, meet new friends, and participate in a multitude of sports and extracurriculars.

Get involved in your school by joining a club, sports team, or drama performance offered on campus.

  • on Saturday, September 10th at 7pm, the SVHS falcon club will be hosting dinner and a movie on the football field to help support SVHS athletics. 

  • get some community service and have fun by joining the key club! The key club will help you earn community service hours, which will benefit the SVHS music department and the big brothers and big sisters foundation. the first event will be music at sky park on august 28th! contact Trinity Stenton for more information 

  • If you are interested in starting a new club or taking over an old club there will be a club meeting next week on Wednesday 8/24 at break in Ms. Fishers room C302!

  • there will be a football jamboree this week! the varsity jamboree will be held on Friday, august 19th, while the JV jamboree will be on Saturday, august 20! hope to see you there! 

  • there is a JV volleyball jamboree this Saturday the 20th! come out and support girls volleyball! 

  • next week, starting Monday the 22nd, the freshmen will be selling class t shirts in the student store at lunch for 15$ cash or check. for any class of 2026 updates, follow their account on Instagram @svhs_classof2026

  • before we go, please take out a device, go to the SVHS website and then the student government page, and fill out the survey for a game for the rally next week! seniors, check the google classroom for a senior specific survey.

  • Attention Falcon lady golfers, the defending SCCAL girls golf team returns this year looking to repeat as champions with another undefeated season! For those interested in playing golf the fall we will be meeting on Monday 8/15 at lunch outside the gym. Check out the school's website for more details about requirements and eligibility.

  • Are you interested in playing video games, either casually or competitively? Would you like to be involved in Esports tournaments against other schools? Perhaps you would like to learn how to play the famous tabletop RPG Dungeons and Dragons, and make a few new friends? Come by the computer lab M9 on Wednesday 8/17 during lunch for more info about SVH Game Club, where all gamers are welcome.
