Weekly Announcements 2023-24:

4/15 - 4/19

  • If you are attending Cabrillo in the fall, don't forget to sign up for Seahawk Day. Deadline to sign up is April 16th. See Amy Paul with questions.

  • If you are in need of community service sign up to volunteer at the QYLA leadership awards on May 11th but going to qyla.org/volunteer and filling out the Google form. Hope to see you there!

  • Attention students in need of community service contact Mr. L or Ms. Fleisch for more information on how you can earn hours volunteering for the 3rd annual Multicultural Fair at Skypark on May 4th.

  • Need community service hours? She Is Beautiful race is Saturday, May 11th. Go to the school website to sign up or see Amy Paul.

  • Blood Drive Sign Ups are happening every day at break! Make sure to sign up if you are 16 years old or older.

  • Seniors - If you want to participate in Mr. SVHS on May 10th and possibly win $150 then come to the meeting at break on Monday 4/15.

  • If you are taking IB Exams this spring, there is a required informational meeting at the beginning of lunch on Thursday in the Student Union. All examing students must attend.

  • Are you planning to take a class at Cabrillo College in the summer or fall semester? We'll be hosting a Dual Enrollment Presentation on Tuesday, April 16th during Tutorial in room C509! A counselor from Cabrillo will review the process for applying and registering for classes, dates and deadlines, classes to take, and answer all your questions. Don't miss it!

  • SVHS is hosting a prom dress and suit collection giveaway on Thursday, April 18th after school and Friday, April 19th at lunch in the Student Union. If you are in need of free formal wear for prom, head over to the Student Union at those times.

  • Cabrillo bound seniors- the deadline to sign up for Seahawk Day has been extended to this Thursday, April 18th. See Amy Paul with any questions.

  • Juniors and seniors! Send in videos or pictures of your prom-posals to the svhs.asb instagram account for a chance to win 2 free prom tickets!

  • Thursday at lunch we will have our Career Lunch with the topic "Social Work" in room C509. Pizza will be served.

  • Prom tickets on sale now through Friday April 26th. Tickets are $150 with ASB seal and $160 without ASB seal. To buy your ticket you must be clear of all library debt. If you are bringing a guest, you must have completed permission slip before you can buy their ticket. Note there will be no ticket sales at lunch on Friday April 19th. Prom is Saturday, May 4th at the Monterey Marriot buses load @SVHS @ 4pm.

  • CSU Monterey Bay will be here on Tuesday to talk to Juniors and Seniors. 10am for Seniors and 10:30 for Juniors in the College and Career Center.

4/8 - 4/12

  • Men's and Women's prom formal attire drive is going on now through April 10th. Bring in the past formal wear to donate and help students in need and to reduce/reuse attire. Drop off donated formal wear in the front office with Leslie or Leigh. Thank you.

  • Blood Drive Sign Ups are happening every day at break! Make sure to sign up if you are 16 years old or older.

  • The spring musical, The Addams Family, opens on Friday, April 12th and runs until April 27th! Tickets are $15 for students and $18 general and can be purchased online on the SVHS homepage. This show will be performed at the new SV Performing Arts Center down by the library. Don't miss this awesome show.

  • Prom tickets go on sale next Monday, April 15th and end on Friday April 26th. Ticket prices are $150 with ASB seal and $160 without. To buy your ticket you must be clear of all library debt. If you are bringing a guest you must have a completed permission slip before you can buy their ticket. Prom is Saturday, May 4th at the Monterey Marriot, bus loads @ SVHS at 4pm.

  • Seniors if you are interested in submitting a speech for your graduation ceremony they are due to Ms. Nedney by this Friday, April 12th. You can email them to her or drop them off in the office or room 302.

  • Seniors - If you want to participate in Mr. SVHS on May 10th and possibly win $150 then come to the meeting at break on Monday 4/15.

  • All junior and senior IB students meet at the rainbow stairs today at lunch (4/9) for yearbook photos.

  • Juniors and seniors there is a mandatory Powder Puff meeting this Friday 4/12 at break in Ms. Nedney's room. If you want to play or coach, you must attend. Room 302 break.

  • All ASB Club presidents contact Mr. Filippini with your roster. If you fail to provide a roster, your club will not be featured in the yearbook.

  • Seniors- Lynn Beebe Scholarship deadline is tomorrow. Make sure you apply!

3/25 - 3/29

  • Happy first day of environmental week! Today is zero waste day. Did you know that the average person produces in the US 4.9 pounds of trash per day as of 2018. That is a ton of waste. So, let's keep our campus clean today. Stop by the table at lunch to participate in a campus clean up. Also, don't forget to wear blue tomorrow for clean water day.

  • Green Team meeting at lunch on Wednesday in room C302. See you there.

  • Attention Seniors. The final date to purchase Studio '24 Grad Night Tickets is March 29th. Limited number of spots available. Link to forms and payment info can be found on the Senior Google Classroom or the SVHS website. 

  • Whitings Food on the Boardwalk is hiring now for weekends, spring break and summer. Apply at Whitingsfoods.com. Come see the job board in the College and Career Center for more information.

  • This Saturday from 8-10 is a campus clean up day! Show up to get some community service.

  • On Wednesday, March 27th, the SVHS front office will be closing at 2:30 pm so that our office staff can attend an off site District Office Staff meeting in person.   The doors will be closed and locked as directly after school administrators, teachers and counselors will be in PD starting at 3:00 pm.  Any items left in the office need to be picked up from the office by the end of lunch (1:15).

  • Seniors! Don't forget to apply to scholarships. The Lynn Beebe Scholarship just went live yesterday so be sure to check it out!

  • Seniors - you have a lot due this Friday: 1- Senior Banner Payment and Sign up; 2 - Magic Mountain- sign up and payment; 3- Grad Night @ Dave and Busters; 4-Pick up grad gowns in Nedney's room. Financial Aid available - see Ms Nedney. Go to the school website click on Students then click Seniors for all the details.

  • Planning on taking the SAT in May? The Math Club is offering review sessions for the math section in E101 on Thursday during lunch. Everyone is welcome.

  • Happy third day of Green Week and clean energy day! Thank you to everyone that walked or biked to school today. Did you know that the average home uses 10,500 kilowatt-hours of electricity per year. That's a lot of energy! Tomorros is healthy forest day so make sure to where brown. There will also be a speaker on Environmental Science tomorrow during lunch so make sure to come by - details on where coming.

  • All IB students, please meet at E104 at lunch for a group photo. 

    All Student Government members please meet at the rainbow staircase for their class photos at lunch. 

    Any Hall of Fame winners that haven't taking photos please contact Mr. Filippini, today is the final day for all submissions. (moved to the gym due to rain)

  • Last day to apply and receive priority registration at Cabrillo College is today- Friday, 3/29.

  • Swim meet 3/28 at SLV HS at 4:30pm.

  • Over Spring Break is a great time to apply for scholarships. There are 11 scholarships that have deadlines during spring break. Make sure you apply.

  • Congratulations to Alejandro Valentin for he is a winner in the Santa Cruz County Rotary Speech Contest!

Falcon News 3/28/24

  • Go to svfalcons.org now and get the room locations of your 2 career sessions

  • Password is careerday, all lowercase no spaces. 2nd period will end early today and you will go to 2 half hour career sessions right after, there will be no tutorial today

  • Both baseball and softball have games vs SLV @ slv today, and track and field has a meet @harbor, all games are at @4:30

  • Mountain Mikes Fundraiser on Wednesday, April 10 from 5-9 p.m. Come get a delicious slice of pizza to support the class of 2027. Make sure to say you’re there for the fundraiser.

  • Happy healthy forests day! Come to conference room A at lunch today to learn more about careers in environmental science! It is open to all students so make sure you come support! Tomorrow is love your environmental day so make sure to wear green!

  • Today is the deadline to apply to Cabrillo College and receive priority registration for the fall and summer!

  • SENIORS There are 11 (!!!) scholarships that have a deadline that falls during spring break! Make sure you take a little time to apply!

  • SENIORS if you haven’t picked up your cap and gown for graduation please do so as soon as possible, those that’s are still left will get returned and you will not walk at graduation!! 

  • SENIORS FRIDAY is the last day to buy grad night and magic mountain tickets!! check out the grad night form online or turn a check into the office! For magic mountain, permission slips are in the office, that and money must be turned in by friday!! 

3/18 - 3/22

  • Evergreen College from the state of Washington will be here tomorrow at 10:00am in the College and Career Center. See you there.

  • If you took the PreACT in February, your scores are in! Come to the College and Career Center.

  • Boys volleyball is back home Thursday evening against SLV. Game starts at 6:30pm, bring your friends and support your Falcons!

  • Congrats to the boys volleyball on their win over the SLV Cougars last night. Volleyball will be back in action at home next Tuesday and Thursday at 6:30pm.

  • Environmental Week is coming up next week. Stay tuned for fun activities all week. Monday - Zero Waste Day, wear white; Tuesday- Clean Water Day, wear Blue; Wednesday - Clean Energy Day, wear Yellow; Thursday - Healthy Forest Day, wear Green.

Falcon News 3/21

  • The spring dance is coming up! Dance the night away in the Student Union this Friday from 7:30-10 pm. The theme is butterfly garden and attire is semi formal (ex: sundresses or a button down and khakis). Tickets will be sold all week at the student store during break. Limited tickets will be sold at the door. Tickets are $3 wish ASB and $5 without. There will be fun music, food for purchase, and a surprise at the end!! We can’t wait to see you there!

  • Baseball and Softball have games against Santa Cruz today! Baseballs varsity game is at Santa Cruz High and JV is at home, both games @4:30,softball is @Home @4:30 as well! 

  • Boys tennis also has a match at Home today at 4:30! 

  • Finally Track and Field has a meet today @Santa Cruz as well! events also start at 4:30!!

  • Hi Falcons. The annual Rotary Speech Contest is this Friday at 5pm at the HS. Please prepare a 5 min speech on the Rotary Theme "Create Hope in the World." If you'd like to participate, please contact Randy Klein or Sofia Guimaraes.

  • Would you like the chance to win up to $100 for a 4-5 minute speech about making the world a better place?"  Then please participate in the Rotary Speech contest this Friday @ 5P in room C-108. Details about the contest are on the cork-board in the College and Career Center. The first seven people to sign-up can make a speech. Others can come to watch the speeches in preparation for next year! This is being narrated by Randy Klein and is open to all High School students.

  • Interested on joining tech crew or crew for this year's spring musical? Come to Ms. K's English room C705 on Thursday, March 7th at lunch to learn more about the different departments and how to sign up.

  • The juniors have a fundraiser at the Laughing Monk in Scotts Valley March 7th all day! Come stop by and show your support.

  • PreACT scores are now available. See Amy Paul in the College and Career Center.

  • This Saturday March 9th there is going to be a campus clean up in front of the Art rooms. Come from 10-1 and earn up to 4 hours of community service.

  • There is a track and field meet this Saturday at 9am @Willow Glenn High School, events are happening all day, come by and support the team! 

  • baseball has a game this Saturday at home vs Santa Clara! game starts at 11am 

  • softball has a game tomorrow @Carmel High School @4:00pm

  • Dodgeball Tournament sign ups are available through the link on instagram or at the table during break and lunch, it’s $3 to sign up and the winner takes all sign up money! The games take place on March 20th 

  • The juniors have a fundraiser today all day at the Laughing Monk Brewery! Come by to so support! make sure to tell your server your there for the fundraiser!

  • Sophomores are doing an Easter See’s Candy fundraiser! Get some of your favorite treats by going to link on the school website or class of 2026 instagram. All orders must be in my March 15th!

  • There is also an SVHS campus clean up on saturday from 10-1 come help weed in front of the art rooms for 4 hours of community service

  • International Women's Day is tomorrow, Friday March 8th, wear pink to celebrate women, Falcon Check will be looking for a spirited student wearing pink to win the cash prize that's currently up to $10 

  • If you signed up to be a senior servant, photos for the promo video have been rescheduled to tomorrow, Friday, March 8th at break in Ms. Nedney's room, C-302

  • SENIORS Grad night and Magic Mountain tickets are still on sale in the Student Store! If you buy your Grad night ticket before March 15th you will be entered in the raffle for a chance to win a $200 visa gift card! 

2/26 - 3/1

  • Danica Kelley became only the 5th athlete in Santa Cruz county history to win a state wrestling championship this past weekend in Bakersfield. Congrats Danica, Scotts Valley High School is very proud of you.

  • Attention Juniors, Seniors, and especially Sophomores! Are you a good student with a high GPA and want to be part of a nationally recognized honor society? You should join CSF!   • TODAY is the last day to tryout for girls beach volleyball.  Please make sure you are registered in Family ID.  3:30-5:30pm at main beach.

  • We hope you all enjoyed the rally yesterday. Today we are ending culture week with international game day! Come down to the quad to play some cultural games and end your week on a fun note.

  • March 6th and 13th is Campus day! If you are in need of some community service stop by from 2:50 to 4:20pm to help clean your campus!!!

  • We hope everyone’s culture week has been going well and that you have enjoyed the activities during lunch. Today is the rally day so you will go with your second period class to the rally. Have fun! 

  • Art night is tonight so make sure to stop by and see the amazing art your fellow students have made. It’s from 6-9 pm in the student union.

2/20 - 2/23

  • If you are on the wrestling team and ordered photos, they have arrived! So, swing by the front office to pick up your wresting photos today!

  • Seniors - if you are attending Cabrillo in the fall, there will be a Placement Workshop on Wednesday, February 21st. You should have received an email with your workshop time. If you have not received your email, contact Amy Paul in the College and Career Center.

  • Green Team work day is this Sunday 2/25 from 12-3. Drop by if you need some community service!

  • Seniors - the deadline to sign up for Magic Mountain @ the early-bird price of $250 is this Friday 2/23. Prices go up on Monday, 2/26 and your spot on the trip is not guaranteed so buy early.

  • Senior Panoramic is this Thursday 2/22 during tutorial weather permitting. Make sure to be a part of this historic event!

  • Boys volleyball has their first home games this week Thursday and Friday evening at 6:30pm. Bring your friends and support our volleyball team!

  • Interact Club has organized a campus beautification day on Friday, February 23rd starting at 3:10pm We would appreciate your help. Come receive community service hours by improving our own school. We hope to see you there.

  • Do you need community service? There is a fabric and craft supply flea market this weekend and they need lost of help Saturday and Sunday. Go to the community service page on the school website to sign up.

  • The Winter Play "Death, Divas and Dreams: a night of 10 minute musicals and plays" is this Saturday, Feb 24th at 5:30 and 8:00pm at the SVHS Student Union. Tickets are $12 general and $10 students and seniors. The link is on the SVHS homepage. We hope to see you there.

  • Seniors- Grad gowns and announcement pick up is today, 2/23, at break and lunch in the student store.

  • Boys volleyball had their first win of the season against PCS last night. Tito Palma recorded a career high of 15 kills. The team is back in action at home tonight as they take on North Salinas at 6:30 PM.

  • There is a campus beautification event tomorrow after school at 3:10! come support our district wide initiative to care for our environment! you can get community service as well

  • Polar plunge sign ups are going on right now, click the link on the ASB instagram to sign up! The plunge takes place on March 2nd from 10-1:30 

  • The spring dance, Butterfly Garden will be hosted on March 22nd! Tickets will go on sale soon! keep a look out 

  • SENIORS Magic Mountain early bird tickets are on sale for $250 till tomorrow!! Prices go up after that, and your spot isn’t guaranteed. the trip is May 17th-18th! 

  • SENIORS grad gowns and announcements arrive tomorrow! come to the student store at break or lunch to pick yours up! 

  • SENIORS the panorama is TODAY during tutorial, come down to the football field at the start of tutorial 

  • Next week is culture week where we are going to be celebrating a bunch of different culture here at svhs and around the world. Each day is a new theme and activity

  • Monday is international candy day so we will have candy in the student store

  • Tuesday is art day so people will be doing henna for you in the quad. 

  • Wednesday is international music day so we will be playing music in the quad.

  • Thursday is the rally day, note that the schedule will be different!

  • The Interact Club is doing a feminine products drive! All of the collected items will be donated to the Walnut Avenue Women and Family Center. Collection bins can be found in the front office, library and in Ms Kindell's room.

This year's event theme is festivals celebrated around the world and it is sure be a joy-filled day. Need community service hours or just interested in getting involved with the event? Here are 2 ways you can: Hosting a cultural booth or volunteering (see Ms. Fleisch for more details).

  • Boy’s Golf Team PRACTICE CANCELLATION FOR MONDAY 2/5 due to rain……The first practice has been moved to next Monday, February 12th at 4:00 (immediately after school).

1/29 - 2/2

  • Swim practice starts this week, Monday -Thursday at SLVHS 5:30- 7pm

  • Students, come to a meeting on Jan 31st at lunch in Sra. Else's room to hear about a variety of bilingual volunteer opportunities. To qualify for the Seal of Biliteracy, you must show proof that 20 hours of bilingual community service were completed. This is a great way to make a dent in those hours.

  • Softball tryouts on Monday, Jan. 29 @ 4 weather permitting. All people interested in trying out must have their physical complete and Family ID filled out before tryouts. You are unable to tryout without having those two items completed. Any questions contact the coach. Parent/Team meeting on Thursday, Feb. 8 at 6 pm in room W2. Players and at least one parent minimum must attend.

  • There will be a Boys Golf informational meeting and sign ups on Monday, Jan 29th in front of the gym at the start of lunch (1:20pm). Be sure to come if you are interested in playing.

  • Squid Games is coming to the SVHS Library! Try your hand at freeing the shape from the honeycomb candy circle on Monday, Feb 5th at lunch. Spaces are limited, so stop by the library and sign up with Mrs. Walpole.

  • Auditions for the Spring Musical The Addams Family will be the week of Jan 15th! vocal auditions are Monday 1/15 and Tuesday 1/16 at 4pm. All of our students are special and unique an this loss reminds us of how precious and important our connection is to each other. Your incentive is a cash prize for the winning band, and the invaluable experience of live stage and band performance. Battle of the Bands is in January. Battle of the Bands is on Jan 26th and official sign ups are two weeks earlier.

  • JV girls soccer beat Santa Clara last night. Jessi Dunn, Lilly Rittenhouse, Bella Agnone and Madi Pipal scored goals making it a 4-0 game!

11/27 - 12/1

  • Thank you all for participating in the canned food drive. We brought in 500 cans as a school! The top 3 classes were Lykins (#1), Aiello (#2) and Leonard (#3). Lykins class will get a donut party and the other two classes will get candy!!

  • On Wednesday, 11/29 the SVHS front office will be closing at 2:30pm so that our office staff can attend an off-site District Office Staff meeting in person. The doors will be closed and locked directly after as school administrators, teachers and counselors will be in PD starting at 3:00pm. Attention students: any items left in the office need to be picked up from the office by the end of lunch.

  • Sadly, Falcon Check was not won before our Thanksgiving Break. Although it is up for grabs this Friday for $10. Make sure to wear maroon and gold on Fridays.

  • The holidays bring some fun ways to earn community service hours. You can work at a Christmas tree lot, work on the Roaring Camp Christmas Train or help light up the big town Christmas Tree in SV. See Amy Paul with questions.

  • Yesterday was Diwali, the Hindu festival of light. It symbolizes the victory of light over darkness and knowledge over ignorance.

  • If you want to sign up for the blood drive to to the table at lunch starting. Sign ups start online on 11/11. Remember that if you are 16 you eed to get a parent consent form signed.

  • Attention all Scotts Valley High School students: the Yearbook Staff is excited to announce that the yearbooks are now available for purchase!
