Week of 4/25:

  • Come support your Falcons Girls Lacrosse team for their final home game of the season! Tuesday 4:30 vs Carlmont. The Girls Lacrosse team is fighting to retain their co-first place status after their huge defeat of Stevenson last week.
  • Seniors! If you are attending Cabrillo College this fall, don't forget to come to the schedule building workshop today at your scheduled workshop time in room C704.

Week of 4/18:

  • Seniors - SV Pageant is coming up soon! Stay tuned for more information.
  • Attention all juniors taking IB Exams this year.  There will be a mandatory meeting on Tuesday during tutorial to review IB exam policies and procedures.  Please go to your tutorial class first, then come to the Student Union,
  • Seniors!  We still have some scholarships available. Don't miss out on free money! Go to your Naviance account our see Amy Paul in the college and career center.
  • Student Government applications are on the school website and must be turned in by April 22nd.
  • Mr. SVHS and Senior Servant info meeting at break on Wednesday, April 20 in Fisher's room C302.  Everyone is welcome.
  • Prom tickets are for sale starting today at lunch in the student store.  They are $130 with ASB seal and $140 without ASB seal.  Tickets will be sold until 4/29.
  • 4/18 we have a college visit from the University of Nevada, Las Vegas here at 11.  Come to the college and career center.
  • Congratulations to the Girls Lacrosse team for a powerful win yesterday, upsetting the #1 ranked Stevenson.  It came down to the wire: final score was 17-16. Fantastic team effort!!! Now we are tied with them for 1st place in the league.

  • Meeting for girls interested in playing basketball next year - April 28th, lunch in room C703.

  • If you took the PreACT back in February, come pick up your results in the College and Career Center.

  • Are you in need of community service? There are two big events this weekend.  There is a surf competition Saturday and Sunday at Pleasure Point and you will receive a free t-shirt. Also, the Ducky Derby is Saturday. Go on the school website for more information or see Amy Paul in the College and Career Center.

  • Seniors- are you planning on attending Cabrillo in the fall?  We are hosting our last workshop on Monday, April 25th.  Be sure to fill out your google doc to pick your time slot. Cabrillo counselors will be here in person to help you build your class schedule.

  • Friday - 4/22 is National Day of Silence.  It is created to spread awareness about bullying - specifically, harassment of LGBTQ+ students within schools.  Many teens stay quiet or closeted out of fear of being bullied for openly showing their gender or sexualities.  Please take today to be kind to other students about issues regarding the LGBTQ+ community.

Week of 4/11:

  • Student Government applications are on the school website and must be turned in by April 22nd.
  • 4/15 at lunch there will be an Easter eggs hidden around campus for you and your friends to find!
  • Peer tutoring is available in room C509 at lunch every day except Friday.  Stop in for some help!
  • The Spring Musical Unrinetown opens this Friday, April 15th at 7:00pm.  The show runs April 15 - May 1 with evening shows at &pm and matinees at 2pm. Don't miss your chance to see the amazing set, tech, dancing and talent of this awesome cast.
  • Blood drive is April 29th.  Sign ups will be in the Student Store so if you are interested, come sign up and donate.

  • Attention seniors - Please remember that we have a mandatory meeting for all students taking IB exams during Tuesday's tutorial.  Please go to your tutorial for attendance, then go to the student union.

Week of 4/4: Spring Break

Week of 3/28:

  • At lunch 3/28 we will have 7 colleges in the quad to share information with you about their schools.  Stop by their tables to check it out!
  • Seniors! Don't forget about scholarships.  There are many available and all of you will qualify for some of them.  Check out what is available on Naviance or see Amy Paul in the College and Career Center.

Week of 3/21:

  • 2022-23 Student Government Applications will be available starting Monday 3/28.  If you are interested in joining Student Government turn the application in by April 22nd and attend the mandatory meeting.
  • Seniors: are you interested in speaking at graduation?  Prepare and write out a speech and turn it into Ms Fisher by April 15th.
  • Talent Show is this Friday, 6pm-8pm in the Student Union.  Come and see all the talent SVHS students have to offer.
  • If you're playing or thinking about playing football, short meeting Tuesday, March 29th start of lunch in the Gym.
  • Volunteers are needed for the Omega Nu Ducky Derby.  Have fun and earn community service hours at the same time.  Event is Saturday April 23rd from 9am-4pm.  Sign up sheet is in the College and Career Center.
  • Senior announcements and grad gowns are in. Go to Ms Fisher's room 302 to pick up.
  • Monday, SVHS celebrates Holi.  Holi is the festival originating in India that marks the coming of spring.  To celebrate, come to the field by the office at lunch and throw Holi powder at your friends.  
  • After a decisive win over Leland yesterday, your Falcon's Girls Lacrosse team faces a neighborhood rival tomorrow.  Come support them as they play Monte Vista at home Thursday at 4pm.

Week of 3/14:

  • There is a Basketball Tournament this week on March 16th, Wednesday.  Sign ups are this week at lunch in front of the student union.  Teams can be 6-7 players ($3 each).  There will be a cash prize for the winner.

Week of 3/7:

  • Attention 10th graders!  Would you like to join an exclusive, nationally recognized honor society?  We are now accepting CSF application packets from the fall semester 2021/2022!  Download the required forms to apply from the SVHS website or join the CSF Google Classroom.  Applications due March 25th.

  • Come support your Falcon Girls Lacrosse team this Thursday for their very first home game!  5pm at the stadium.  Take special note of our UC Davis-commit Ellie Raffo.  Additional players to watch: Siena Wong, Taylor Sanots and Sofia Niklaus, plus Olivia Tinetti in goal! It will prove to be an exciting game!
  • SVHS Boys Lacrosse has a game on Wednesday vs Palma at 4:00pm.  Come cheer on the team.
  • Boys Lacrosse: Senior captains Caden Stratton, Nolan Smith, and Carl Keegan played with a degree of intensity that reminded me of the outstanding Scotts Valley High lacrosse teams of 2012. 2016 and 2017. Game MVP Caden Stratton scored 2 goals with 1 assist and ran our transition flawlessly. Nolan Smith scored 4 goals and showed impressive team leadership skills. Our goalie Carl Keegan, played his best game of the new season stopping 8 shots on goal with a 60% plus save percentage. Final score Palma 9 Scotts Valley 8.

Week of 2/28:

  • Seniors - Some new scholarships have been added to Naviance.  Go in to Naviance to check them out or see Amy Paul in the College and Career Center.
  • Monday is international candy day! The first day of Culture Week.  At lunch there will be free candy given out in the quad.
  • Indoor basketball tournament on March 16th from 6-8pm in the SVHS Gym.  Sign ups start at lunch on March 8th in front of the SU and will be for all of that week until March 12th.  Each team can have 6-7 players and it will be $3 per person to play.
  • Tuesday for Culture week we are celebrating art from around the world.  At lunch in the quad. Play a fun game and win some tasty treats.
  • Battle of the Bands is Friday, March 4th at 5pm in the SU.  Wear your favorite band t-shirt on Friday to school to celebrate out talented bands!
  • Cabrillo Bound Seniors - don't forget to come to the Cabrillo Placement Orientation Workshop during tutorial in room M10 Tuesday!
  • Wednesday of Culture Day is Music Day. Music from around the world will be played at lunch in the quad.
  • Thursday - Culture Week Assembly.  At the end of second period your teacher will guide you to the assembly area.  Performers from Flamenco and Folklorico, African drummers/dancers and bagpipes!
  • Friday, is game day for culture week.  Come to the field at lunch to learn about and play different games from different countries.
  • Did you find a musical instrument case on the ground in front of the grassy knoll at break yesterday? Please return to the front office.

Week of 2/22:

  • Seniors - the Magic Mountain early bird deadline is coming up.  Make sure to turn in your permission slip to guarantee a spot on the trip.
  • Covid PCR testing is taking place today (Tuesday) 4th period and Tutorial.
  • Seniors - the panoramic class photo is Thursday at 10:00.  Meet at the football field.
  • Are you interested in being a camp counselor?  Redwood Glen Camp needs some HS help the week of March 21st through the 25th.  You will earn community service hours.  Please see Amy Paul in the college and career center if you're interested.
  • If you are a senior attending Cabrillo in the fall and have already complete your application, your next step is to come to Cabrillo's Placement Orientation Workshop.  It is Tuesday, March 1st in room M10 during tutorial. Be sure to bring your Cabrillo ID #.
  • Fashion Club is hosting their annual fashion show this Saturday, 3pm and 7pm.  Doors open 15 minutes before.
  • Calling all nerds, geeks, and fans of D&D! Have you ever wanted to learn about or play "Dungeons and Dragons"? Come to Gaming Club today right after school in room E104 and learn about this unique fantasy adventure game! No prior knowledge, equipment, or sign-ups needed. All are welcome!

Week of 2/14:

  • Think you've had the worst date of all time? Find out by watching Drama Club's production of Check Please running for one night on Feb 19th.  Show times are 5pm and 7:30pm.  Tickets will be sold at the door of the student union for $10.
  • If you're interested in joining the tech or crew for the spring musical, Urinetown, please come to an informational meeting meeting on Thursday, 2/17 at lunch in Ms. K's english room C-705.  For any questions contact Kay Labbe or Ms. K.
  • Battle of the Bands meeting Wed, 2/16 at lunch in Ms Fisher's room.
  • Wrestling, Varsity and JV Soccer, Varsity and JV Basketball pictures are here.  Come to the front office if you ordered one.

Week of 2/7:

  • Singing Valentine Grams are on sale everyday this week at lunch in the student store! They are $5 each and will be delivered on Monday!
  • Winter Formal is on Friday! Tickets are on sale Tuesday and Wednesday in the Student Store at lunch.  All students attending must be tested at the school Tuesday unless you have had Covid in the last 90 days.  Students bringing guests must show proof of their guest's negative PCR test to Ms. Fisher in the student store on Thursday or Friday.
  • Reminder to Seniors! If you will be attending Cabrillo in the fall, we will be having an application workshop Tuesday during Tutorial in room M10.
  • Do you need community service? Vine Hill has two needs.  This Saturday, Feb 12th from 8am-12pm they need help in their garden.  On Saturday, Feb 26th from 9am-noon they need help setting up their auction event at Chaminade.  Please go to the SVHS website or see Amy Paul with any questions.
  • There is a Boys Volleyball meeting Tuesday, at lunch outside they  gym with Coach Wilson.
  • Spanish Club will be selling bracelets and purses at lunch by the Falcon Feeder from Feb 7th-17th.  Bracelets are $5 and purses are $10.  All the proceeds go to helping the communities in Nicaragua and Guatemala who handmake all of the items.
  • Seniors- During Tutorial this Thursday, Feb 10th we will be having a scholarship workshop in the College and Career Center.  We will show you how to find scholarships that you are eligible for and how to apply to them.
  • Have you considered going to college abroad?  The University of Glasgow will be there on Tuesday, Feb 15th at 9:00.  They will answer all your questions, including what it is like to live in Scotland.

Week of 1/31:

  • Baseball tryouts are Jan 31st through Feb 2, after school.  You need to have a physical prior to tryouts and it must be uploaded to the school's FamilyID page.  Please wear baseball paints, t-shirt, hat and cleats.  Cuts will be announced Feb 3rd.  Winters sport athletes will get their tryouts after their sport ends.
  • Cabrillo College will be presenting information on their Honors Program Feb 3rd during Tutorial.  Come learn what the Honors Program is all about and how to apply.  Come down to the College and Career Center at 12:15.
  • Boys Lacrosse tryouts will be held on Thursday, Feb 3rd at 3:15pm.
  • Seniors! There are many scholarship opportunities available to you. Be sure to go on to your Naviance account to check them out.
  • Model UN meeting, Feb 2 to vote or run for next year's club leadership positions.

  • Upcoming Gaming and ESports Club will be holding an informational meeting at lunchtime on Monday, Jan 31st in room 104 (the graphic design room). This meeting will be to discuss details and plans for the club, to give out permission slips and more.
  • There will be Girls Beach Volleyball this spring! Contact Coach Anderson if you are interested. Practices will start late February and competitions March 18 - April 30th.
  • There will be an informational Boys Lacrosse meeting at lunch on Thursday, Jan 27th.  Meet outside the gym if you're interested at 12:50.
  • Boys Golf Team informational meeting, Thursday, Jan 27th, lunchtime outside the gym.
  • Softball season practice starts Monday, Jan 31st 3:30 - 5:00pm.
  • Wednesday, Jan 26th, is the last Model UN meeting before conferences so stop by Ms Silva's at lunch for important details.
  • Attention Seniors considering attending Cabrillo College in the fall.  Cabrillo College will be hosting an informational meeting on their Honors program on Thursday, February 3rd at 12:15 during tutorial.  Come learn more about how to apply and the benefits of the Cabrillo Honors program.

Week of 1/18:

  • If your band wants to perform in the Battle of the Bands on Friday, Jan 28, you must attend the meeting at break this Wed. 1/12 or Friday 1/14 in Ms Fisher's room 302. Only one band member needs to attend the meeting. (THIS HAS BEEN POSTPONED)
  • Girls Lacrosse: informational meeting in front of the gym Jan 20th at 12:50 (Lunch).
  • Do you like video games? Want to play them at school and not get yelled at? Join our team eSports club and team.  Please fill out a survey that Mr Hanson send you in your Gmail inbox if you are interested.
  • Fashion Club designers! There is a meeting today, 1/21, at lunch in McHan's room, E102.  All designers must be there.
  • Come to Ms Silva's for 1/19 Model UN meeting  to talk about resolution writing.

Week of 1/10/2022:

  • If you are in need of community service hours, here is a fun job for you! SVHS JV Basketball needs help during their games.  No basketball knowledge is needed.  Dates are Fridays at 4:30 on Jan 14th, 28th and Feb 4th.
  • Auditions for the musical Urinetown begin today!  Come by the Student Union after school to audition either today or tomorrow at 3:30. Break a leg!
  • Winter Formal will be held outdoors on Feb 11th.  Tickets are for sale Mon Jan31st - Wed Feb 9th.
  • If your band wants to perform in the Battle of the Bands on Friday, Jan 28, you must attend the meeting at break this Wed. 1/12 or Friday 1/14 in Ms Fisher's room 302. Only one band member needs to attend the meeting.
  • Girls Lacrosse: informational meeting in front of the gym Jan 20th at 12:50 (Lunch).
  • Grand Canyon University will be in the College and Career Center on 1/11 at 9:oo. If you are open to going to college in Arizona, they are are great option.

Week 1/4/2022:

  • Auditions for the musical Urinetown begin Monday, Jan 10th.  Vocal auditions are Jan 10th and 11th, dance auditions are Jan 12th and callbacks are Jan 13th.  Please prepare a 1 minute memorized audition song (from a musical that is NOT Unrinetown).  Sign up for an auditions spot on Miss K's website.  Remember, this weekend is your last time to sign up for an audition slot.  Contact Miss K with any questions! Break a leg!
  • Auditions for the Winter Play "Check, Please!" are on Wednesday, Jan 5th.  Come audition!  You don't have to prepare a monologue.  We will do cold reads and a small amount of improve.  See you there.

Week 12/13/2021:

  • Do you love fashion or designing clothes? Join Fashion Club.  As a designer, you pick your models and create a line and reveal it at a Fashion Show in February.  Interested?  Contact Hannah Bellavance for more information.
  • Winter Formal tickets will be for sale when we return from break. They are $25 with an ASB Seal and $35 without.  The dance is on Jan 7th.
  • Pre-season conditioning for Softball will start on Wednesday, Jan 5th M-F, 3:30PM - 4:30PM.

Week I2/6/2021:

  • Peer tutoring is available at the table outside Mr. Postovit's math classroom Monday through Thursday at lunch.  Stop by to get some extra help before finals.
  • Come to Ms Silva's room for Model UN this Wednesday to learn your delegation's committee assignments.  Make sure you and your partner are both present.
  • Want a Winter Formal Ticket? Warm coffee or a gift card?  Swing by the office during break or lunch to wish for a reasonable gift.  Student Government will be granting wishes this year!  Last day to make a wish is Dec 10!
  • The closing weekend of SV's production of Clue is this weekend - Thursday, Friday and Saturday.  Get your tickets online before they sell out.  Some tickets will be sold at the door but they are gone quick.  Please come support our Drama department.  Show starts at 7:00 and doors open at 6:30.
  • Wednesday is carpool donut day! Take a picture of you and your friend carpooling to school and come to the front of the student union to pick up a donut before first period.

Week of 11/29/21:

  • The Fall Play Clue runs Dec 2,3,4 and Dec 9,10, 11.  Doors open at 6:30 and the show starts at 7:00pm. Tickets are $10 for students, $12 general admission and are available for purchase on the school website.
  • Dec 1st during tutorial there is a mandatory meeting for all seniors regarding grad requirements, senior trip details, college apps, and other important information. The meeting will be in the Student Union.
  • School and sports photos will be distributed in your English classes.  They are not in the front office anymore.
  • Do you need community service? Right now we have 2 new opportunities.  There is a Christmas tree lot that needs help weekdays until mid-December and the other opportunity is to work at the Santa Cruz Warriors games helping Jacobs Heart with fundraising games.  Go to the school website of see Amy Paul in the College and Career Center for more information.
  • Winter Formal Tickets will be for sale starting Monday December 6th at lunch in the student store.  Tickets are $25 with an ASB seal and $35 without.  The dance will be Jan 7th.

Week of 11/15/21:

  • Big shout out to the boys and girls cross country teams this past Saturday; they both won CCS Section titles. Congratulations to Ashlyn Boothby and Jeremy Kain for winning the individual CCS titles.
  • Come to the girls informational lacrosse meeting at lunch in the gym 11/16.
  • The Canned Food drive ends this Thursday.  Please donate cans to help those struggling during these times.  Donations can be dropped off in your second period class. The winning class will get donuts!
  • There is a Blanket and Jacket Drive going on now! Items donated go to unhoused community members so please consider dropping some items off in the office during school hours.
  • If you have ordered a sports photo or school photo, come to the front office to pick it up.
  • Blood drive sign ups are in the student store every day at lunch.  Come check it out to learn more!
  • Attention seniors! If you need some help with your college applications, come to our workshop on Thursday during Tutorial and 6th period in C502.  Make sure you ask your tutorial teacher first.
  • Model UN delegates, come to Ms. Silva's room today during lunch for a mock crisis commitee.

Week of 11/8/21:

  • Need help with your Cabrillo application for next fall?  We're here to help. Come to room M10 today at 12:10 to get help with Running Start.
  • Seniors - there is a college application workshop 11/10 during 7th period in room M10!  Stop by any time.
  • 11/12 is Veteran's Day, first made a federal holiday in 1954.  This day is set aside to celebrate and remember those who have served and lost their lives in service of our nation.
  • Need a little income? Come to the College and Career center to see the job opportunities. Zinnia's is hiring as well as Aunt Lali's, Ross and Starbucks.  And newly posted is Paradigm Sports, they are hiring both front desk assistants and personal trainers.

Week of 11/1/21:

  • Seniors!  Will you be attending Cabrillo next year?  Cabrillo counselors will be at SVHS on Tuesday, Nov 9th during tutorial to help you with your application and how to enroll in Running Start.  You don't want to miss this helpful workshop in room M10.  See you counselor or Amy Paul with any questions.
  • College visits this week are Wednesday, the University of Mass will be here at 10:00.  On Thursday, Seton Hall University will be here at 9:00.  Colorado State University will be here at 10:00 and Maryville University will be here at 1:00.
  • Coaches want to meet with any returning or incoming baseball players on Tuesday, Nov 2 at 12:50 (Lunch) in the quad behind the gym.
  • Seniors - need a fun and supportive place to work on your college applications?  Do you have an open 7th period?  Join SVHS counselors on Wednesday during 7th period in room M10.  There will be snacks!
  • Golf and JV Football pics have arrived.  Got to the front office for pick-up.  Tennis, Volleyball and School Photos can also be picked up from the front office.
  • Congratulations to the winner of the last San Jose Sharks raffle - Dylan Bench.  Raffle tickets for upcoming games will be available at this Saturday's football game and then in December in the front office.  Tickets are $20.
  • There is a blanket and jacket drive going on now! Items donated go to unhoused community members so please consider dropping some items off in the office during school hours.
  • The Senior day football game is this Saturday.  There will be a tailgate with free food and drinks at 12:30.  Wear white.
  • This Thursday is the start of Diwali, one of the most important holidays in the Hindu faith. It celebrates King Rama's return after 14 years in exile.  During this holiday, lights are hung all over buildings and food is given out to neighbors.  If you would like to celebrate, there will be Indian candy and lights set up in the student store on Friday at break.
  • Come to Model UN in Ms Silva's room 11/3 for a meeting.  Bring your signed permission slips.

Week of 10/25/21:

  • Volleyball, Cross Country, Tennis and school photos are in.  Come to the front office to pick yours up.
  • Seniors! The deadline to submit your senior quotes has been extended to this Friday, 10/29.  Make sure to submit your baby photos and quote.  Check your Google Classroom to see where to submit yours.
  • Attention club presidents and advisors: club constitutions are due to Ms Fisher by tomorrow, Oct 27th.  Put them in her mailbox or email them.  Make sure your advisor has signed them.
  • XCountry and Tennis pictures are in the front office for pick up. Also, school photos.
  • Boys soccer tryouts start Nov 1st at 4:30.  All athletes must register and upload physicals to FamilyID before they can try out.
  • College visits:  10/25 - University of Alabama 9:00, Azusa University of SF at 8:00, 10/26 - USC 9:00, Willamette 10:00. 10/27 - St Mary's 9:00.  Come to the College and Career Center.
  • Attention juniors and seniors interested in joining or continuing membership with the CSF honor society to show academic excellence: Application packers for Spring 2021 are due Friday!  Sophomores will have a chance to apply after January.  See Ms. Hershey if you have questions.
  • Raffle tickets supporting Falcon Club to win SJ Sharks tickets available in the front office for $20/entry.  Win 2 tickets to Saturday, Oct 30th game verses Winnipeg Jets.

  • This Friday we are having Halloween celebrations.  Make sure to come to school dressed in costume.
