Career Technical Education Partnership (CTEP)

The Santa Cruz Career Technical Education Partnership (CTEP) provides students with the opportunity to acquire career training and technical skills that prepare them for success in the changing workplace. CTEP, a Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) accredited program of the Santa Cruz County Office of Education, is offered in cooperation with area high schools and the local business community to provide job training for high school students.

The Santa Cruz County CTEP provides more than 50 courses in 15 industry sectors located at all area high schools and several community-based locations.

High School Credit:  Five high school credit units per semester are normally awarded for the successful completion of each five-hour weekly class. Most classes are year long, yielding 10 high school credits. Some classes meet more or fewer hours, and credits are adjusted proportionally.

College Credit:  College credit may be awarded for specific courses by either transfer-verification, petition or established articulation agreements with Cabrillo College and CTEP. Many CTEP courses are UC/CSU A-G approved. See course descriptions for details.

Fees:  Books are at no-cost to high school students. Upon completion, if a state-licensing exam is required, the cost of the exam is the student’s responsibility.

Certifications:  Some CTEP classes provide training that meets CA State requirements. For classes that prepare students for State Certification, the applicant must also pass a State Certification Exam.

Transportation:  Students must provide their own transportation to and from off-campus CTEP classes.

Registration:  Student register for CTEP classes on their SVHS Course Selection Form and with the SVHS CTEP program coordinator, Janice Manion at jmanion@santacruzcoe.org

For additional information about ROP and deailed descriptions of off-campus courses, see the CTEP program coordinator or go to the www.ctep.santacruz.k12.ca.us.
